W00T!

I'm scheduled to go take a tour of Gearbox Studios here in Dallas in about a week.  They are the producers of Brothers In Arms, Borderlands, HaloCE PC, and their latest will be Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Anyways, NoGame has graciously given me a list of questions to grill them with, and I have a few of my own as well.  I hope to have an article written shortly after, possibly even including some pics.

I've also been informed that'll I'll get a chance to play a working demo for Aliens: Colonial Marines, as well as get a peak at some of their "super-secret" projects that are in development.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to write about these projects, as I will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before taking the tour.  It's all good though.

Jumper

I watched this yesterday.  One word:  Disappointing.  There was a lot of potential for this movie.  A lot.  But, yet again, Hollywood went and fucked it up because they wanted to get a product out most likely.

They barely fleshed out the story, gave barely any back history, and ended very anti-climatically.  Hell, Diane Lane's character is in the movie for what?  2 minutes?

I mean...  come on:  "Only God should have this power."  My reply to this line would have been:  "If only God should have this power, then why did he give it to me?"

And then the "Knife".  Obviously some sort of special ceremonial killing knife, but, nothing is ever mentioned its significance.

Meh.

The concept was interesting, and with a good writer and director, could have been a really good movie.  But...  not this time.  :-(

Burn Notice

Just started watching this on the USA Network.  Not sure how I missed this last summer, but it isn't too shabby, for a summer TV series.  Recommend it if anyone needs something to watch.

Saw jumper too last night. LOL Like you said alot of potential. The premise of the movies is fucking awesome and they had a good cast but they had no depth in the story specially in the plot. They gave no historical reference or background on the Paladins like you also point out. You just knew they wanted the jumpers dead because of some religious belief, thats it. The movie moved way too fast after the first half of the movie.

The fucking book? Isn't that the Kama Sutra? Anyway, Burn Notice is a lot of fun, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Enjoy! SC

Hmm. Three people watching the same movie on the same night...what are the odds...? I'll agree with both reviews. Lots of potential, but they tried to pack too much into around 90minutes. Little depth to the characters, not going into the Paladin/Jumper conflict enough, etc...

Add a fourth to that list of folks that watched Jumper on the same night. Very very weird. +1 to the reviews. I still wouldn't call it a bad movie. Should have been a great movie, though. So what if it runs over 2 hours. Another half hour to 45 minutes could have been enough to throw in a flashback or two or even to go further back in the story at the beginning versus starting in his childhood.
