Fall Television

Well, it's pretty much officially begun.

Actually, it began a couple of weeks ago with Prison Break, but I stopped watching that show after the 2nd season.

Anyways, this past week has spun up the fall TV season and here are the shows I'm looking forward to, and the ones I'm avoiding:

The Shield (FX) - Final season.  One of the most gritty, dramatic shows on cable TV.  One of my all time favorites.

Sons of Anarchy (FX) - This has a lot of potential.  Already there are multiple threads to the story.  I just hope the main character doesn't struggle with his identity too much.

True Blood (HBO) - Just watched the first episode last night.  Not a whole lot went into it, as they were taking time to introduce the characters and their individual stories.  But the writing and acting were damn good.  This has some serious high potential.  Anna Paquin is pretty damn hot.  My favorite new slang:  "Fang Bangers"

Heroes (NBC) - Its sophmore season was down.  Hopefully this season will be better.  The potential is there as it's labeled "Villians".

Fringe (Fox) - Can you say JJ Abrams?  Can you say X-Files?  I hope it isn't a knock-off.  But, if Abrams is doing it, chances are that it will be good.

My Own Worst Enemy (NBC) - Christian Slater makes the move to the small screen.  Early previews show potential, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The Unit (CBS) - One of my favorite "popcorn" shows, it's been moved to Sunday.  Not a very good day in my opinion, but it isn't Friday either, which is a day that kills shows.

Dexter (Showtime) - I haven't watched season 2 yet, but I heard it's good.  Season 3 starts 09/28.

The Clone Wars - (Cartoon Network) - I'm hoping that this will be good.  Not holding my breath, but as a Star Wars fan, I'm hoping this will fill in more of the story.

Lost - Season doesn't begin until '09.  Should be interesting.

Life (NBC) - First season was great.  Hopefully the second will be just as good.

The Sarah Conner Chronicles (Fox) - I don't know.  I'm hesitant and worried that this series will throw off any continuity the movies established.  Lucas fucked it up with Star Wars, I'd hate to see it happen with another one of my favored Sci-Fi stories.

Honorable mention:  Just because I don't watch these shows on a regular basis.  I still enjoy seeing them when I do.

The Office (NBC) - Best comedy on TV along with...

30 Rock (NBC) - Alec Baldwin FTW!

Shows I'll probably avoid:

Anything reality related.  Seriously.  Old and tired.

Grey's Anatomy (ABC) - Old and tired.  There are only so many combinations of all these doctors hooking up with one another.  This isn't a hospital, it's a swinger's hang out!

ER (NBC) - Final season, and I really don't care.

Knight Rider - No.

Wow...  That's way too many shows.  Sigh.  I'll end up downloading half of them on my computer to watch later.  I primariyly focus on The Shield, True Blood, and that's about it.  I just don't want to take the time to watch them all immediately unless they are exceptional.  All the others will be saved either on my DVR or computer.

Looks like you and I have pretty similar tastes in TV viewing. FYI, season 3 of Prison Break was better than season 2. I'm a little concerned about where season 4 is headed though so far. Also keep an eye out for a 2 hour "24" movie this fall. It will set up the next season, starting in January. Last note -- If you haven't been watching "Big Bang Theory" on CBS, start now! It's probably one of, if not the, funniest shows on TV.

True Blood RULES! The guy from Generation Kill that I adore so much (Iceman Colbert) is in it as well. He's the pretty blonde Vampire .. Eric I think is his name. We meet him later in the series.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles are "supposed" to tie into the new Terminator movie coming next summer...we shall see. Christian Bale in some sort of cameo would be perfect, some sort of foreshadowing or flash forward of the future. Heh, nothing is impossible in the Terminator world it seems.

I don't see "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" on your list. Definitely worth a look if you've never seen it. Funny as hell.

Also, I don't know if you all have checked out www.hulu.com but it's a pretty cool website. Just sign up and you can watch TV shows free. There are ad's but they are usually 30 seconds or less; no big deal.

That's pretty much what I watch, except not Dexter, I took a pass on that and add Stargate Atlantis and some other assorted SciFi stuff. The Unit FTW! Thanks for mentioning Life also. I thought I was the only one who watched it.
