Friday, we went to Boondocks, which is a mix between a Speedzone and a Dave and Busters. Pretty much spent the entire day there racing go-carts, driving bumper boats, and spending copious amounts of cash on games to win tickets, to buy toys that are pretty much worthless. But, the little one had a blast, and she got a lot of loot (even if I think it's worthless stuff).
Saturday, they decided we would check out the Renaissance Festival in Castle Rock, CO. I've never been to one of these, but I had heard it's basically a Renaissance-themed ComicCon.
Yeah, that's pretty much spot on.
We got there around 11am and the little one decided she wanted to participate. Costumes were available to rent and so, she went as:
A pauper girl? I've no clue. I do know, that a LARGE majority of the men were walking around dressed like Pirates. WTF? Pirates? Were pirates that prevelant during the Renaissance? I really don't know. I do know that after checking out a few of the stores, that some of these guys were wearing $1,000 + in costumes. Youch!
I'll stick to our $15 we spent.
There were a lot of sites, sounds, food, drink, etc... that I got to experience.
One of my favorite things was the Dungeon Museum. Quite a carnocopia of various forms of torture. My favorite was this one:
It reads: The Dunking Stool: The Dunking Stool was used on nagging women. She was dunked at least 3 times until her tongue was tame.
Why can't we use this now a days??? I may have to build one in my house.
Again, we spent the whole day, in almost 100 degree heat. Dry heat, but still freaking hot. Humidity while I was there ranged from 5% to 7%. Colorado is in the middle of a severe drought.
Anyways, the little one got her face painted, which she enjoyed immensely, even though she looks drugged in the picture.
On Sunday, we of course went to church, and the wife and I got a lecture from the Monster-In-Law about the evils of caffeine and how her psychiatrist told her that it could lead to depression, rage, etc... I do so love these lectures we get. It's always something new that I get to experience. *sigh*
We went to the local feed store before the airport, as the lady there has turned it slowly into an animal rescue. Dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, ferrets, parrots, geckos, sugar flyers, and, a couple of wallabees.
My favorite were the Sugar Fliers. They're nocturnal, so when we opened up the bag (yes, they sleep in a bag) they threw a fit and climbed from that bag to the other one in the cage to go back to sleep. Bitching and complaining the entire time. There were 3 of them, but they sure put up a snit. It was fun to listen to.
Got to the airport, said my good-byes, and got back here late. Denver FTW.
