All Hail The New Religion

Global Warming.

Everyone must bow down at its altar and worship it.  So sayeth Al Gore, so sayeth the Lord.

Honestly, the Church of Global Warming has become a religion unto itself, with Al Gore as it's high priest.  God forbid if you deny Global Warming, or even question the veracity of the claims of Global Warming.  Thou are a Heretic if one does.

What got me ranting about this today?

Expedition Alaska.  A special that debuted on HD Discovery last night.

This show was advertised non-stop for the past 3-4 weeks on Discovery.  It looked extremely interesting.  It looked exciting.  It looked like it was worth watching.

Boy was I wrong.

It turned out to be a non-stop propaganda film about "Global Warming".

The expedition went to Alaska to discover the effects of Global Warming on the last great wild frontier.

My problem with this was that at no time in the past 3-4 weeks, was global warming mentioned in the advertising of the special.  The commercials made it appear as if this was an "adventure" expedition, not a scientific study regarding "Global Warming".  Ambushed.

That in itself wasn't bad.  What I really disliked, was it felt as if every other sentence uttered during the special contained the phrases "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" in them.

If I had created a drinking game where you took a drink when either of those phrases were uttered during the show, I would have passed out in less then an hour.

I don't deny "Global Warming".  I accept that there is a possibility of if occurring and that it is man-made.

What I don't like, is how it has become its own religion, and the Evangelists of this religion feel that they have the right to shove their religion down our throats.

No one likes other's views imposed upon them.  People tend to rebel against being force-fed other's views.

This is no different.  I'm tired of being saturated with "Global Warming" this, and "Climate Change" that.

I don't like the Christian Right trying to impose its views upon me and mine, and I'm a Christian.  I sure as hell don't appreciate the views of the Church of Global Warming being shoved down my throat.

Pardon me if I choose not to worship this new religion.

I do hate how Discovery has a show on global warming and how we are fucking it up every other hour. Its fear mongering at its best. I wish they had more shows on solutions, options every day citizens can do to improve the situation rather than just tell us how fucked we are....we get it, we screwed up, shut up already.

It is getting a bit old isn't it? I'm a Christian as well. When I talk to people about my faith, I don't try to force-feed, brow-beat, or guilt people. I simply explain my stance, and let them make up their own mind. Those kinds of tactics mentioned above do far greater harm than good. +1 man!

"What I don't like, is how it has become its own religion, and the Evangelists of this religion feel that they have the right to shove their religion down our throats." Sounds about like every religion I've ever encountered. At least nobody came knocking on your door toting battered copies of The Watchtower.

I totally agree, from the ads it looked like a 2 hour version of planet earthfocused on Alaska... It even seemed like alot of the "scientists" were reading off cue cards, and the frizzy haired chick that swam out into the lake to gather methane was horrible at reading those cards. I will say some of the images they captured were amazing though, when they were in the kayaks and the hump backs came up that was crazy.
