So - introductions.

Im 27, native of Scotland, living with my girlfriend and working for a large IT Support company,  on one of their public sector contracts. This means I get to hear plenty of corporate BS from one end, and have to put up with the monumentally idiotic behaviour that only the UK public sector bureaucracy can generate from the other. That said, I do enjoy IT Support – I like computers, and I enjoy helping people most of the time – although I would like to move over to development/programming, Visual Basic probably.

Ive been a gamer for as long as I can remember - my first system was a ZX Spectrum (rubber keys), my first game was Scrabble. Id been gaming for a long time before that though, Risk, Monopoly, Lego – my imagination has always been fertile ground. That said, strategy games and RPGs of all forms, formats, shapes and sizes have been my genre of choice.
Eventually I graduated onto a Commodore 64, and I was lucky to own both a SNES and Mega Drive/Genesis later still, although not at the same time unfortunately. At the height of what I sometimes think of as the Second Golden Age of Gaming, I was swept up in the Sega vs. Nintendo wars that raged across playgrounds the world over. Being a creature of the moment, I flitted from camp to camp, selling my allegiance like a common mercenary. Or a cheap tart, it depends which way you want to look at it.
Regardless, my true allegiance always lay with the games, and still does, and I have long since placed my flag firmly in their camp.

At present I run an XP/Vista dual boot PC as my main machine, but in a recent attempt to break the shackles Mr Gates has placed upon my soul, I purchased a G4 iBook. Im using it now, and I have since embraced the use of open source software, and Im typing this on Neo Office, and anything I type on the PC is done in Open Office, I only ever use Firefox as my browser, and Ive caught myself eyeing up Linux in the past couple of weeks.

My long-winded and slightly pointless point is that I dont consider myself a slave to any one system or company, hence the reason theres also a Dreamcast, DS, DS Lite, GBA, Gamecube, two PS2s (first and second gen) lying around my house.

As I mentioned in Blog the First, I entered the writing competition, hopefully some of you will read it, even more hopefully, some of you will feel like commenting on it. Ill speak to you then, if not sooner.
