Time to get a new motherboard

Uhg, I am through dealing with Asus.  I talked on the phone to a 2nd level tech.  I told him what I went through, what I did, what is happening, what isn't happening.  He came up with the conclusion that the motherboard is fine so it's the setup.
Ok, the only thing that changed in this scenario is the motherboard.  And I am using dhcp so there isn't anything to setup.  I tried XP and Vista.  I made sure the latest drivers were installed.  Tried three different network cables that do work on my laptop.

For those that haven't paid attention or forgot my new motherboard that is a return from a previous RMA has a fault network port.  The problem is it doesn't look faulty.  It gets link lights, XP and Vista say that it is working fine.  It just isn't getting a dhcp address.  Even if I use a static ip I can not ping the router.

I am thinking of picking up a usb ethernet card and seeing if that works.

So, what should I get for a replacement board.  I want two PCIe x16 slots in case I want to get sli in the future.  I don't want to pay a fortune for the motherboard though.
