It's a new motherboard. We'll see if Vista likes it. I have a feeling I will have to call Microsoft to explain it isn't a new computer. I will reply to blog about the outcome and if Microsoft support has improved.

I think I am done with PC gaming. It's not worth it anymore. More memory, faster processor, Direct X10 Video, EAX Sound Cards. It's always something and it all adds up to $$$$$$$$.

If it's the same kind of MB you will be ok. Then agian, Vista did think that my overclocked ram was new ram. Who knows.

I like Vista. I like how things are organized, to me it makes more sense. I might dual boot to XP though as there are some things that just don't work in Vista. The Mac crowd is laughing at PC users which I find very hypocritical. When OS X was released a lot of major applications were not OS X compatible until 3 years later. Many people had to run OS 9 inside of OS X to do what they wanted. ekattan. PC gaming isn't that much more expensive than console gaming. I've laid out many times on this site. It depends if you absolutely need the latest tech. Most of the time you don't. There is always going to be one or two games that is an exception, like Crysis. But that is no different that a killer game coming out on the console you do not have. if you looks at Steam's hardware survey most people are running systems older than 3 years old. Game developers know this. UT3 runs on my old system. It isn't pretty but it is playable. Note that my old system is actually 6 years old with some 2 year old upgrades (just video and memory). PC gaming is a different experience than console gaming. Console gamers are use to mediocre games because they can trade them in. PC gamers are a little more picky and will get stuff they know is worth the money. And user content plays a huge role in that. I wouldn't get TF2 for console, only 6 maps and one being ctf, bleh. On PC we've been trying out user made maps, we have put a couple on the 2o2p dedicated server. Once true user generated content hits the consoles I might start neglecting the gaming side of PCs. And a console needs to allow mouse for aiming. It broke my heart to hear the PS3 version of UT3 is 20% slower that the PC version to compensate for the controller.

I can no longer suggest Asus to anyone. This motherboard has a faulty network port. Sigh. I think I will just buy a new motherboard.

I am jumping to conclusions here. Would I have no network access due to Vista needing to be reactivated? I think I will run a linux boot cd and see if it can use the network port.
