World of What The Fuck

So, I lifted ended up brief wow-cation and logged back in. In under an hour I had already realized why I stopped playing:

I was player-killed 3 times in the period of about 20 min. I wandered around aimlessly grinding for "kill 20 of these guys". I  watched my system "really scream" at an average of 12 FPS (Outland runs especially slow for some reason) and the only fun I managed to have was shooting the shit while talking with guildies on Ventrilo.

I was talking with someone last week at work about how WoW can be multiplayer but I'd hazard a guess that for at least 50-70 percent of the time the game is comprised of just running solo (questing, killing mobs, doing the auction-house, etc...).

All bitching aside, WoW is a good game. It is fun (grinding and all) but sometimes it just really  wears on me. I did play some counter-strike last week. I'm definitely a bit rusty but I've still got the basic skills. My first round back I was 12-6. Granted, there were lots of nubs in that server, but 2:1 isn't a bad ratio :)

Alright. The work week has begun. It's time for me to be productive again and leave WoW behind. Don't miss me too much WoW, I'll see you next weekend....unless Mrs. Counter-Strike follows through with her offer to show me a good time.

In case you haven't been to vgcats - this is an awesome comic.

@ TCP - hope your week kicks some major ass too. Ahhh I remember level 26 fondly. Those were the good ole days when all the quests were still interesting and battlegrounds were fun.

And that right there is why I've never had a desire to play WoW at all. I don't like grinding, don't like running from one town to another that's a half hour trek away only to kill xx amount of things (or enough to gather xx amount of whatever item, sometimes stuff that has ridiculously stupid drop rates), then run all the way back to finish the quest, get the XP, then repeat constantly, over and over, time and time again. Gets boring as hell really, really quick. Only time I could ever have any semblance of fun in WoW is playing with friends and even then about 80% of the time or more I'd just select my buddy, hit 'F' and switch windows to work on something in Photoshop until I hear sounds of battle then hop back in. It's not a game, it's a chore.
