forza 4 Porsche Expansion Pack: First Impressions

Nearly 400 megs of Porsche goodness was waiting for me to download after work on Tuesday. i had kept tabs on 2Old4Forza's feedback through the forums here on the website...error messages on the downloads, lap times, car selection, new events in the event list, sticker shock, and VIP dlc grumblings.

Once I had the pack I immediately bought and tuned the Carrera GT to S-Class and took it for a spin on Nordschleiffe...where I promptly ran off the track on the first turn and hit the rail...which kinda sums up my initial impression of the whole Turn 10 experience. Forza fanatics have waited  long months for Porsche due to a licensing issue with EA and were hit with a $20 price tag for fewer Porsche cars than were available, on the disc, in Forza 4...we're paying for stuff that was in the last game for free.

Now that the season pass has expired and all future content will be full price, and the VIP status has been made available to everyone...if everyone is a VIP, then no one is. This happened in the last game and the developer's explanation is that they were selling the VIP status in to raise funds for disaster relief, but apparently this time it's all about the greenbacks.

As far as the cars go I'm pleased with roughly 15% of the cars and indifferent about the new event list content...gonna need a bit more time behind the wheel before the fog clears but my Top Gear A-Class test laps in the 997 GT2 were slower than: a Jeep Cherokee, a 57 Bel Air, a 59 Cadillac Eldorado, and a Dodge Ram. The A-Class Cayenne lags behind every other a-Class SUV in the game, except for the Touareg, by a substantial margin...more than a second and a half. My experience through the whole thing so far is if you're going to England to tackle the Top Gear track in A-Class SUV...take a Jeep.
