Aliens: Colonial Marines First Impressions

I've played the first four hours of the Aliens: Colonial Marines single player campaign and it hasn't quite grown on me yet. The narrative is fine ,the sound effects are spot on, and the voice acting is actually pretty good...Gearbox even brought back Michael Biehn and Lance Henricksen to reprise their Aliens movie roles. That being said, the alien animation is kind of jerky and it was hard to adapt to the button layout: your loadout consists of two primary weapons which you alternate with the y-button, and a side arm, which you alternate to from the D-pad. The movie sets are in place, The Selaco and Hadley's Hope, with little touches like the bed in the sick bay where Burke locked Ripley and Newt in with the face huggers was still knocked over, and half of Bishop was still laying on the loading bay of the Selaco where the Xenomorph Queen ripped him apart. As much fan service as it pays to the Aliens movies...it still feels like it borrows more from other games than it does the movies, and honestly doesn't look much better than Doom 3. Multiplayer execution will either make or break this game. I'll have an in-depth review in very soon.

I was reading that this game is basically Alien 5 and is part of the canon

The game is set seventeen weeks after the events of the second movie, Aliens.

Just finished the single player campaign in just under eight hours...yep, I'm pissed off.
