Shared on Sun, 01/29/2006 - 11:19So they had this contest at work, long story short for every new idea
that was original and accepted we came up with utilizing the stuff we
work on we would get a $10.00 gift card to Best Buy. The leader in
their group got an extra $50.00 and the overall leader in the company
got another $50.00. I was not the overall leader, but led my group with
84 submissions, giving me $890.00 to Best Buy, right in time for
Christmas!
Anyhow, first and foremost I got goodies for the family, things we all wanted and could not otherwise afford. It left me with just over $400 to play with. My initial thought was, Xbox 360. A couple things kept me from getting it. First, I just had no desire in staying in line until the wee hours of the mornings to get one, maybe. Second, for $400, I would not get everything I wanted (console and games) so why bother? Lastly, I am not sure all the bugs have worked their way out yet, so I decided to wait. I am jealous of those with one, but I can wait until Halo 3 comes out.
Instead I decided on an iPod, I always wanted one and when I went to check them out they had one left. It was the 60Gig Black Video iPod and was about $420 after taxes. I said what the hell and got it. It was awesome, no doubt and I fit every CD I owned including a couple of the wife’s, some pod casts and a couple ripped DVDs and still had about 50 Gig to spare. I eventually realized, I had something I would ever fully use and as cool as it was thought I made a mistake. When I went to get it originally my buddy went also, he won over $500 as well, and he was getting a PSP and trying to talk me into it. I was stubborn at the time but soon realized he may have been right.
I took the iPod back for a full credit and got a PSP, a 256 MB stick for it and a couple of games for less than $400 with some to spare for when I see another game I really want. This is by far and away the coolest freakin thing I have ever owned. The games I got are awesome (Need For Speed 510 and Lord of the Rings Tactics) but the look and feel and features of this thing are nothing short of incredible and getting better all the time. Surf the net, RSS feeds, videos, movies, games, music, free play online, system link play with pals that have PSPs (4 at work so far) just blows me away. I recommend this to anyone that has the dough for one. Definitely what I needed to tide me over until I can get a 360. I am an Xbox man for the most part, but this is just a kick ass toy that will make those long and boring business trips a hell of a lot better!
