Winter Solstice

I have been looking forward to this day for weeks!  I don't celebrate or make a big deal out of it, but......

The mid December solstice marks the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs on December 21, 2008 at 7:04 AM EST and 12:04 UT (Universal Time).

In the Southern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice takes place on June 20, 2008 23:59 UT (Universal Time

And what does this mean?  Starting today, the days are getting longer.  Well, they are where I live, anyways.  For those that suffer from SAD, as I do, it means more daylight....approximately 2 minutes per day for a while, then it escalates and, woohoo!  it's spring!

And what am I doing this spring?  Yep, another road trip!  I have the last 2 weeks in April off and I am running away from home.....again.  At the moment, I have no (well, a few) destinations in mind.  I am open to suggestions.  I actually would luv to do the exact same trip I did before and see J-Cat, Meemoos, and others.  But, we shall see.  Who knows?  This time I may run away and not come back.

The 46" HDTV arrived some days ago.  And sat in a corner for quite a while.  Yesterday, hubby started hacking away on my solid oak beautiful entertainment center (sob) and now we have an appropriate size hole that the TV will slide right into.  He actually did a good job.  But, now he "owns" the cool TV.  I told him wherever that TV went, so would the xbox, but, I can't see me playing games downstairs while he watches, supervises, criticizes, or whatever....  I just can't.

The afghan is getting big!  It is a labor of luv for my bestest buddy, and I will hand deliver it in April.  Now that I am in the afghan making mode, who's next?  We have a boatload of those things I have made over the years.  I will start a new one when this one is done.  Choice of colors, anyone?

I hope with the lengthening of days and spring coming, soon?, that my winter doldrums will disappear and I will have better things to blog about.  The hangman is gone with the coming of the solstice.  So, I didn't disappear, after all.......one piece at a time.  Oh, yeh, and I promised.  So, I am back, all in one piece, and looking forward to seeing some of you in the spring.
