Getting old...

It's not for wooses...

and apparently brings on all kinds of responsibilities I've never really thought about, probably should have, but now they're in my face and I'm in the "have to" zone...

Things like, I'm an only child running head long into 50 and my parents are really getting old and there's just me, and my wife, God love her, I couldn't begin to do this on my own.

So I have two 17 year old boys we're raising, and now a 70 year old mom under the same roof. And no one's coping very well, not even the family dogs...

Real life can really get to you...

That's a sticky situation to be in.  Something similar happened to a family member of mine who's mother in law moved in with them after some health issues. It put a huge strain on the marriage and caused a ton of other problems, but in a lot of ways they are closer for it.

I can relate to an extent. My mom's folks have lived across the street from my folks for 12 years for health reasons.  The last 5 years have been rough with the family taking turns staying there at night, medical appointments ect. Still, it beats the alternative.  We lost my grandfather last year and I still miss him greatly.

I think its great that you and yours are willing to help them out though.  I think too many people these days don't even want to make the effort and just stick them in a home which is sad.

i feel for ya, but have nothing to offer. i'm just now moving into that era.

it's pretty scary. my parents also own a family business that me, my wife, and her brother work at. so that's hanging in the balance as well.

time to button up my big boy pants...
