I called Microsoft on Wednesday after waiting the 48 hours they suggested, and lo and behold, an xbox is on its way to my house. There's no telling whether its mine or a refurb, or, I could only be so lucky, a new one. Regardless, I hope it lasts for a while and that I'm done with the Red Ring of Death. Coincidentally, Official Xbox Mag's latest issue twice makes reference to strong rumors that Microsoft will be cutting prices for Christmas next year, and that it's working on another iteration that is supposed to correct all the design problems of the previous versions. That presents a dilemma if this next one is a dud. I don't have the patience to keep sending these things back and forth and go without for a month at a time, but I don't the extra cash to go an buy a new one at the current prices either.

The entire time that I've been xbox-less, the only thing I've played is Desktop Tower Defense on my laptop, which was entertaining enough. I found several games for my Mac that I'd almost forgotten about, but I never played any of them. They're all strategy games, and I just don't have the time because of trying to get caught up in my Farsi class. How people hold down jobs and take classes at the same time is far beyond my limited abilties to balance the two, never mind spending time with their families or doing things like going to the grocery store or watching a movie.

What I am doing with my family, a first for all of us, is selling Girl Scout cookies for my daughters. But at least its something to do until the xbox gets here.
