Hey everyone, here's something to chew on.

Everyone that's been playing this game since its release back in November is well aware that the 2-piece was a central issue for many people. They disliked its overuse, and how easily it awarded the user a free-kill. (Which is ironic since walltags/smokegrenades/chainsaws do the same exact thing, if not worse, and have remained relatively unaltered) Free kills are not cool! Neither are people rushing around the map, trying to use their iron-elbow-of-godliness on every opponent they encountered.

As soon as Epic was made aware of this issue, they devised a strategy to alter Gears of War 2 in their favor. Everyone knows that Epic attempted to decimate the shotgun whoring that dominated Gears 1, and as made apparent by the rampant 2-piecing prior to TU3, they failed. Well they succeeded and they failed, but that's a different story.

Anyways, Epic remained intent on making Gears of War 2 all about long range combat. The shotgun, in their eyes, is not your primary weapon. That should be your Lancer/Hammerburst.

SO. The first step in their plot was to add the RRSD. How does this prevent 2-piecing? It doesn't, in any way conceivable. If anything, it made 2-piecing even MORE prevalent, because meleeing out of a RR remained intact.

The lack of my ability to understand exactly WHY Epic made this change (RR shot delay but not the melee delay) has caused me to formulate this conspiracy theory. Perhaps it was an accident? Yeah right. There is NO WAY that they unintentionally added a shot delay but not a melee delay, because that is comletely contradictory to the game that they envision. (But, then again, we are talking about the people who didn't notice the imbalances on Subway/Hail...) So that leads me to believe that this alteration was entirely intentional.

WHY would they add a shot delay (SD) but not a melee delay (MD)? And the ultimate answer here, the conspiracy itself is, so that people would complain about the 2-piecing even more, at which point they would swoop in and save the day by assuring their loyal and trusting fans that they would most certainly add a shot delay in the next update to balance out the gameplay. In the end, when all has been said and done, Epic is able to say that the shot delay was "per forum request" (as joe so famously said), and shotgun/close-range combat has been nullified even FURTHER.

So he we stand, playing a Gears of War 2 that feels slow, clunky, irresponsive, tedious, and frustrating if you attempt to do any sort of close-range fighting. (Besides chainsawing, of course.) All because we, the forumers, so ardently requested it.

When in reality, we only played right into Epic's trap and requested it because we essentially were forced to.
