Shared on Fri, 05/02/2008 - 10:30I went to the Rush concert here in Phoenix last night, and it was awesome. However I am a horrible concert/movie/game reviewer, so that's not what this blog is about. We all know that my blogs are all about complaining.
I've been going to Rush concerts for a few years and this was the first time I ever noticed the abnormally high amount of 'air-drummers' at the concert. Maybe they were always there and I never noticed them until I started playing Rock Band. But holy crap, man. Arms just flying around all over the place. Some dudes so intent into it you'd think they were playing themselves. There were a couple guys who looked like maybe they are in Rush cover bands or something, they seemed to be hitting their air drums and cymbals in the right places, but there were a couple of hyper spazzoids just flailing around hitting a drum set with drums that apparently rotated around them at about chest level height. There was one guy ahead of us a couple of rows that air-drummed EVERY SINGLE SONG. Every song they played the whole night. It was ridiculous. Fuck, man. Go get on a real drum set and play the shit, it looks like you know it all by heart, but settle down at the damn concert.
Then there was the guy just over from us who switched his air instruments around based on what was being featured up on stage. Multi-talented. I'm not saying I'm not guilty of busting out some air bass or occasionally hitting a tom or cymbal in the air. But drop it down a notch, guys. Save the routine for the cover band's show next Friday out at Martini Ranch.
