Gamestop?

So today I was very excited about stopping on the way home from work to get Assassin's Creed.  The girl at Best Buy tells me both that game and Kane & Lynch are pushed back to tomorrow. I figure, Best Buy must have a shipment problem.  I stop at Gamestop near my house and the girl says the same thing.  So I ask her, "Isn't that weird? Don't games come out on Tuesdays?"  And she says, "Nope. They're always on Tuesday or Wednesday".

Now that statement isn't exactly untrue, if you get down to it. Yes they come out on Tuesday or Wednesday.  But I have bought a british shipload of games over the past couple of months and I have purchased them on Tuesday every week.  The last game I remember that didn't come out on a Tuesday (besides that GH3 weirdness) was Okami.

Am I crazy? Or was this chick full of shit? I realize I'm a little airheaded sometimes but I'm a creature of habit.  Tuesdays, stop at Best Buy to see the new games.  Wednesdays, stop at the comic book store.  Sundays, up to the bar for football.  Lady, don't fuck with my routine!

Just a weird rant for you all this evening.  It's no big deal, I'll just get it tomorrow or Thursday.  It's just weird to be told something that is just plain wrong.

They always say that when you're looking for a game on Tuesday but it didn't come in. Yes, the traditional release date is Tuesdays. However, sometimes the ship date is Tuesdays and the game arrives on Wednesday. But Tuesday is the norm.

Here is the deal, this from somebody who works in a game store. 9 out of 10 times, the game ships on Tuesday, we get it Wednesday. Usually Nintendo ships their stuff on Monday, so we get Nintendo's big titles on Tuesday. Now, street dating is a whole different thing. If something is street dated, we get a game early, it could be anything like Halo, Guitar Hero or even Smackdown or Beowolf. We get it on a Friday or a Monday, with a big piece of paper that says "Do not sell until this date." Now, sometimes a company will pay extra to get a game early before the competition. We have done this with God of War II and CoD4 this year already. I also know Walmart did this for Mario Galaxy, as some of my customers said they saw it there yesterday.

Games normally ship on Tuesdays, but the dates do get pushed back-- and shipments don't come in when they are scheduled to. Assassin's Creed should be in tomorrow for you (and me), since that is what my store's computer says. All hail the machine. When I left work tonight we had boxes of Super Mario Galaxy, but no Assassin's Creed. Hopefully, Altier will arrive tomorrow morning.

I think things got delayed a day due to the holiday on Monday. I know the Best Buy and Circuit City ads both said "In Store Wednesday at 2 PM".

I always thought the same way, Tuesday was always the day new games hit the shelves. I called Target, they weren't getting it until Thursday. Called Best Buy, not getting it until Wednesday. Called Gamestop, Assassins Creed stocked and on the shelve!

Same thing here bro. As mentioned earlier, Vet Day holiday put a wrinkle in delivery.
