Shared on Tue, 10/02/2007 - 09:38On the way in to work today, I saw something that still has me perplexed. Maybe I'm trying to read too much into it, but I just don't understand!!! There was a woman driving a car with a bumper sticker that said--and this is a direct quote, no typos--
If U have Y chromosome BACK OFF!!!!
Don't do XX either!
And then on the right side, it had a Y on top and an XX on the bottom, with one of those circle with a slash things through it. I am confused. Does it mean:
a) I don't date men or women, I just don't date so piss on everybody.
b) I don't date men or people with down's syndrome.
Does the XX refer to a typical female, or are we assuming there is already an X chromosome we're dealing with so the other 2 X's give us a trisomy situation?
My main problems with this are
a) I can't believe that this person feels strongly enough about either of these to merit purchasing a sticker and
b) I can't believe there are enough people with these feelings to merit MAKING a bumper sticker.
Any input on this? It'll bug me all day. Maybe there's an answer I'm just not seeing.
Part 2:
Does it bug you when people ask you a casual question that is obviously setting up something they want to ask or tell you about? First thing this morning my supervisor asks, over the cubicle, 'Hey how's the picture with I-Supply looking this morning? Speaking of pictures, why don't you come over and look at these photos of my puppy?' and I'm sitting here with a stunned look of WTF just happened here? So I get dragged over to see these dog photos. Puts me in a great mood this morning. I do love dogs--but I've heard so much about this damned puppy already.
Speaking of dogs--this morning I saw 2 dogs on the way to work that made my day. A few years back, every day on the way to work I could count on seeing 2 things--an old chinese man run/walking, and a person walking 2 extreme weiner dogs. When I say extreme I mean these guys are LOW to the ground. They are like super-weiners. Well I stopped seeing them at some point--I can imagine why I stopped seeing the old guy but the dog disappearance always made me sad. Well this morning I saw them again! maybe they just changed their schedule, and this morning they walked at the old time just for poops and giggles. Either way, happy days are here again.
