Band of Brothers

I just recently found out that my girlfriend has never seen Band of Brothers.  This is great for me, because it gives me an excuse to watch it again!  I watched the miniseries religiously and taped it (on VHS) when it was on HBO but haven't seen it since.  So I borrowed it from my friend--he has the edition that comes in some type of metal ammo box--and last night watched the first episode.

All I can say is, wow.  This has got to be one of the most epic miniseries or series, whatever you'd call it, of all time.  The production, the acting, the script, the action, the effects. Everything is just amazing.  I find it hard to believe anyone wouldn't have at least heard of it, let alone wouldn't have seen it, but if you have not then it's worth at the very least a rental over time.  There are 10 episodes and they're almost all excellent (I remember one that I didn't like so much, out of the 10).

I realize this isn't breaking news, but I just wanted to share, since I got so fired up just from watching episode 1, 'Currahee' last night.  Luz is my absolute favorite, since I like doing impersonations of people myself. "How do you expect to kill the hun with.....dusty jump wings?"

Anyway, not much to this blog except to remind people what an awesome experience this is.

My husband and I have logged some serious BoB hours. Epic is correct. It's just damn perfection. Malarky is my favorite.

Great series. I went out and bought it on DVD when it was still 100bucks.

Watched all weekend. It was on History Channel, and we get that in HD now, so it was my first Band of Brothers HD experience. Amazing series, and looks even more spectacular in HD.

I absolutely love this series, and also own the DVD set in the metal tin. I've watched the series no less than 4 times on the flight to and from Europe, and each time it gives me chills.

When the opening credits rolled, the theme song played and they showed stills from the episodes I got goosebumps and I told the girl, oh shit I am going to get all teary-eyed a few times during this series. She just looked at me funny.

There is talk of the group who made BoB doing another series based on the Pacific Front...but that's about all I've heard..

See, I heard something about Tom Hanks being involved with a BoB-type series on the Revolutionary War...but my source on that is dubious, at best.

A new 10-part miniseries from the creators of Band of Brothers (Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman), called The Pacific, is in development. The new miniseries will focus on the Pacific Theater. The project is due out in 2009, although this is subject to change.[2]
