So I got 2 games for xmas.  WWE 12 and Rocksmith.  I wiil start with WWE 12.  I don't know why this game got such bad reviews.  I, for one, actually like it.  The first 2 hours I hated it.  Couldn't stand it and was ready to say screw it and bring it in for quick trade-in money.  Then I learned how to play it.  The controls are MUCH easier than any of the other wrestling games.  So much easier, I think it confuses people.  Everything is easy to do in the game and the game is interesting.  I mean really interesting.  Random people will run out to the ring.  Not every match, but just all of a sudden.  And for no reason!  You can interfere with other matches and make friends and enemies that way.  I have spent many hours gaining titles and just beating people up.  I mean hell, it's a wrestling game, it is what it is and I think that this is by FAR the best that have been released yet.  Yes, the 'Road to wrestlemania' is a little weak but I don't understand why people say it's confusing.  It's not........it's pretty basic.  That and other story modes are kinda blah, but for the WWE Universe mode, it's great and hours of fun if you're into wrestling.

Now for Rocksmith.  At first I thought ot myself......oh great, I'm gonna have this game and still not know how to play and want to just resort to medium like I did on Rock Band.  Well, this is not like that at all.  I've had an Ibanez sitting in my basement for years and rarely tried to learn how to play.  I can read notes and all that, just reading from a book and playing 'Twinkle, Twinkle' over and over did not really get me excited.  I felt like I never would get anywhere.  After my first night, last night on Rocksmith, I'm feeling energized and excited about learning how to play my guitar.

The game teaches you everything like you're a beginner and know absolutely nothing about playing a real guitar.  This is good for those who don't know how to play.  After 30 minutes, I got a good idea of how the game worked and it helps you tune your guitar each and every time you play a song or practice.  This gets a little annoying, but it helps you learn how the notes are supposed to sound in tune.  I started out on the first song, which I'm still on and see myself on for a while.  It's "Can't get no statisfaction".  They start you out pretty easy picking one note at a time.  You may think it's a little slow at first, but, as you hit the notes on time and in tune, it speeds up and adds notes as you play.  The better you are, the more notes it adds.  If you start to suck, it takes notes away.  This has really helped me out.  It also plays with the sound of the song so your electric guitar doesn't sound 'blah' like if you aren't plugged in.

After the first 30 minutes, I was pluckin away at 2 strings and started getting more notes. Didn't realize how sore my fingers were till tonight when I decided to put another 30 minutes in.  Right now, my fingers are so sore I can barely type.  I know this goes away after a while, It's still fun and getting more exciting.  I'm hitting more and more notes and feeling like I'm accomplishing something.  I know that I will get better if I keep up 30 minutes a night.  I think that this is a GREAT game for anyone that is intersted in learning how to play.  I don't even consider it a game, I consider it many hundreds of dollars in guitar lessons for $70.  I know I may never be pro at the game, but I'm certian I will eventually learn how to play the guitar to a point where I won't feel stupid when I pull it out.  That alone makes me glad I got it for xmas.  If you have a kid that wants to learn how to play and not want to spend the money on lessons........if they are truely interested in putting in the time, this is totally the game for them.

Thanks for the Rocksmith review, Mike! I didn't know that the game would adjust to how good, or how bad you play. I have the most basic of guitar-skills and the way you describe it, it sounds like even I can get use out of Rocksmith!
