This past weekend (January 31) I did a little geocaching. We had a Meet and Greet in a little town called Cedartown, GA. Cedartown isn't know for much but Sterling Holloway was born in Cedartown, GA. Who is Sterling Holloway you ask? He was a voice character for Walt Disney World Studios. Mr. Stork in "Dumbo", Chesire Cat in "Alice in Wonderland", and Winnie-the-Pooh in, "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh".

About 30 or more Geocachers showed up for breakfast. After a nice breakfast, we went on a hike. We started out at 850 feet and hiked about 2.7 miles up to 1600 feet. It was a nice hike on the Pinhoti Trail. We were hiking section 13 of the trail and the Pinhoti trail joins up to the Appalachian Trail. We were going to a Cache called "On Line". Twenty-two people ranging in age made the hike. The youngest was six and the oldest was in their sixties. I got kind of nervous. Not because of the age, but if someone is not used to this level of exertion then bad things can happen.

A couple of us decided that we were close enough to push on to Flagpole Mountain. It was another mile to the top of Flagpole Mountain and another 300 vertical feet. Over all we hiked 3.7 miles in and 1120 feet. Then we had to turn around and come back. On our way back out we stopped off at an campsite and brought out some trash that a hiker had left. We had a fresh garbage bag and put the trash in it. We figured it was about 15- 20 pounds and myself and another guy carried it about 1.7 miles. The funny thing was it got heavier as we were carrying it. I guess at the end of the 7.5 mile hike everything was heavy. I ended up with one small blister on my heel, so I figured it was a successful day.

Here are some pictures from the day.
