Shared on Fri, 11/09/2007 - 19:01So I left for work this morning and my 3.5 year old was out of bed. Normally she gets out of bed as I am leaving, but today she was up at 7:15. The first thing she wants to do is watch "HiggleyTown Heros". Most mornings I when I leave the house I have the channel turned to the Disney channel. That way my wife can get an extra 15 minutes of sleep. It is funny, my daughter will get out of bed and if she walks in the living room and I have "SportsCenter" on she runs in and wakes up mommy to tell her, "Daddy won't turn on cartoons". Huh?? You never ASKED!!!
I digress. Anyways, most mornings she (my daughter) is a grump like her mot... err... father. Trying to his her goodbye is like trying to steal a bone from a dog. So this morning I leave and said good bye to her but I didn't kiss her. I get into my truck and drive up the road. I get to the stop sign and my cell phone starts ringing. I think, "oh oh, all you know what has broken loose and the boss is calling". I look and it is my wife calling. She was sound asleep when I left and I have only gone like 300 yards. She tells me that our daughter came crying into the bedroom saying, "DADDY DIDN'T KISS OR HUG ME GOODBYE". My wife said our daughter ran to the window in the bedroom and opened up the blinds and was looking out the window for my truck.
Man, did I feel like a heal. The one day I didn't kiss and hug her goodbye she actually cares. I whipped the truck around and went back to the house and give her a big hug and kiss. The whole time my daughter is saying, "daddy, you didn't hug and kiss me". I told her over and over again that I was sorry and I will try not to do it again. I know better. I have had to go through the pain of losing a child. I guess that is why I kiss and hug this one so much. She used to not like it and would pull away. I kept it up and now it seems she misses it. I am going to try to NEVER, EVER leave without kissing and hugging her good bye.
I get to spend the whole day with her tomorrow as my wife is heading to SC to scrapbook with friends. My daughter and I are going to have so much fun.
You know what.
IT IS NICE TO BE LOVED !!!
Have a great weekend everybody.
