Let me first start this blog out by saying that I love to use humor, for me humor has and always will be my way of coping with various issues that crop up in life. I often times take situations in real life and stretch them in a humorous fashion within my blog space, which is provided here by the great people who run 2old2play.....thanks guys, you really have no clue as to how much this outlet helps so many here within the site.

And so the story begins....

My 61 year old mother has Ataxia, a brain disease of the cerebellum (along with its connections with other parts of the brain and spinal cord). Ataxia is the broad description of a perplexing, sometimes fatal, condition that robs its victims of their ability to coordinate movement, the critical work of the cerebellum. Walking, talking, holding objects, eye contact, even swallowing become monumental and, eventually, insurmountable tasks. Cerebellar disease does not produce ataxia by making muscles weak, but rather by destroying muscle coordination and by making it difficult, and eventually impossible, to move any part of the body accurately. Ataxia affects at least 150,000 Americans - three times the number of individuals affected by Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). -Bob Allison Reaserch Center

She was diagnosed with this condition when she was 42 years old and as of late her condition has progressed to the point where she struggles to walk up and down stairs and if you were to meet this woman for the first time you would think she was drunk off her ass....she loves to use this to her advantage when she goes out with her friends and tells everyone she's the designated driver for the night.

Ataxia is a hereditary disease that causes loss of coordination resulting in difficulty with everyday tasks such as walking, speech, and writing. My mothers one remaining sister is 6 years older and also has this disease, much more advanced than my mothers. My Uncle, who passed away a month ago at the age of 73, had been confined to a nursing home since 1978 with spinal cerabelem degeneration...now known as Ataxia....he was 42 at the time.

In late October of 2006 my wife thought that I had myself a small stroke due to the fact my speach suddenly started to slur, and I just seemed abit more odd than usual. I've gone thru so much testing these past few month it's driving me crazy....and tomorrow I head back to the Uof M for more consultation.

While I've yet to actually get my official diagnosis, I know that my chances of having this genetic crap are greater than 75%, due in part that all of my mothers siblings, living and not have or had this crap.

I just had to vent abit....sorry for the long blog all. I just wanted to fill some of you in on just why I use humor so much when on the site and why there are times when online in a game I don't talk as much as some of you other blabber mouths. My speach is pretty damn good most of the times, but then there are times that all you might hear is blah blah blah.

I can't even imagine how frustrating that condition might be. Keep the humor, it sounds like your mother is a very neat woman and she uses it to help. Vent away when you need it, that's what the blogs are for!
