HOUSTON WE HAVE LIFT OFF!!!!!

So I had a few freak out moments during the OS install. I had an old upgrade version of windows 7 that I used a couple of times on my old PC that I thought I would be able to use on my new pc (yes the full version is present on the upgrade disc), but when I entered my product key, it did not recognize it. I had 2 different people read it to me and double check my typing and unfortunately it was not going to work..So off to Fry's electronics to purchase a full windows 7 version. CROM DAMN YOU MICROSOFT I WILL HAVE YOUR SOUL ONE DAY!!

So I jam back from lunch (yeah I was putting my comp together at work) and installed the OS. Everthing booted up fine and I saw the old faithfull windows 7 desktop, but, the dreaded red x was over my network connection...So I had someone bring over their lappy and hook into the ethernet cable to see if the port was working at the cube I was doing the install in. And yeah it was working...FUCK YOU ETHERNET PORT YOU WILL NOT STOP ME!!!

So I assumed that the drivers needed to be installed for the port, so I logged into the Asus website from my work comp, downloaded the drivers onto a flash drive, went back over to the cube with my new comp, downloaded the drivers to the desktop and told the little driver update to EAT A DICK AND UPDATE!!! BLAM!!! SUCCESS!!

So after 4 hours of updates I felt I had enough updates to finally be able to take it home and finish up there, but I wanted to make sure I could see my drives before I got home and did not have my IT buddy to trouble shoot for me. I opened up windows explorer and...I can only see my SSD drive...WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shut down, tried switching to different Sata ports, reboot, rinse, repeat and still no HDD...Looks like the computer gremlins were not going down without one final counter attack.

I call up my buddy and run the situation by him, he said he was on the way and he would take a look at it. He shows up, I run by everthing I did, so he reboots the comp and we both see that the bios screen recognizes both drives..He tinks about it for half a second and starts laughing...At this point I am like, I am about to pull your heart out through your chest if you do not stop laughing....He looks at me and is like, dude..you are not going to believe this..We need to assign a drive letter to the HDD and you are good. I thought he was fucking with me and I asked him if he was, he said no and said just watch. 11.2356 seconds later he assigns a drive letter and it pop ups in windows explorer....

NOT TODAY COMPUTER GREMLINS...NNNNOOOTTTTT FFFFFUUUUCCCKKKKIIIIINNNGGG TTTOOODDDDAAAYYYY!!!!!

So I break it all down, get it home and continue the update process for 3 more hours...and below we have the final product:

I will probably unloop those molex connections so I can seat them a little closer to the board so it is not so ugly, but not tonight..Tonight I have to install Steam and will probably download my Torchlight 2 and a game or 2 I got free for the graphics card purchase. My next step is to bug Doodi or Hitman into helping set up Xsplit or OBC so I can start streaming the 360 gameplay...IN 1080P WITH ALL MY EPIC GAMING FAILURES!!

I will keep updating my blog with that little adventure..Thanks for reading peeps, this was fun to do and terrifying all at the same time!!

Add extenders to those Molex lines so they can be passed through the cable management area. My son's network card needed drivers too. The solution was right there but I can't remember it for certain. I think we just told Windows to enable it.
