Red Ring of Death FTW!!!!

I can't believe I'm actually happy I got the red ring of death last night!  When I purchased my xbox, I also bought the 2 year replacement warranty.  For those who think warranties are for suckers, read on.  I go back today and return my xbox.  I originally purchased my system for $400.  However, they have recently upgraded the xbox and no longer sell my exact xbox kit.  So they had to credit my xbox back to me.  Therefore, I ended up with a $430 credit.  Using that I purchased the new xbox 360 "pro edition" (which was $299), a new 2 year replacement plan, ironman movie dvd, heroes season 2 AND I still had 8 bucks left on my gift card.  Talk about the best warranty ever.  If you need to buy a 360 and are afraid of the rrod, buy it from bestbuy and get the warranty.  Saved me from weeks of waiting for a new xbox and got me a few other goodies as well.

Ya i never promote those product replacement warranties but with the Xbox... it's a necessity. My first one lived 14 months, i renewed my PRP on it's birthday and it died 2 months later. Swap out for the win. But during the year with my new Elite, Gamestop discontinued their PRP. So i couldn't renew it this April and wouldn't you know it, 4 months later (last night) , RRoD . So now i have to deal with Microshit and get it fixed during the biggest lineup of games EVER for the 360. I think i'll go and buy a Core come NOv 7th if i haven't received it back by then.

I could've got the elite if I wanted but the extra $100 covered a lot of other costs so I stuck with the pro edition. The warranty plan for my old one ($399) was 60 bucks. The new plan was only $40 bucks but it looks like the cutoff is $299. I'm guessing that if you pickup an elite, it'll be 50-60 bucks for the warranty. Mid: my dog pwns u

Knowing this almost makes me wants to force my 360 into death mode. I currently have the warranty through Best Buy

My unit (no store warranty) got RRD, but was still under the M$ 3 yr warranty. I requested service from M$, meanwhile I bought a Refurb Core from GameStop for $219. My 360 was back from MS in less than 2 weeks, I sold my core on ebay for $199. Not a profit, i know, but was worth every penny to not go gameless for two weeks! I thought the dog was dead..

HAH! Yea, just make sure you force it into the rrod before the warranty expires. You could prob just take it in and say you had the red rings of death. If they test it be like oh I must not have had the video output plug in correctly (I think 4 red rings come up when you have the video output unplugged). My dog isn't dead >.
