Shared on Tue, 05/05/2009 - 07:12Attorney generals in several states are planning to meet with the administrators of craigslist.org, in an effort to remove the "Erotic services" category from the site.
In response to allegations Boston medical student Philip Markoff used the site to rob and kill women, the attorneys general of Connecticut, Missouri, and Illinois will meet Tuesday with the Craigslist's lawyers to press for a ban on advertising for erotic services.
Tuesday on CBS' The Early Show, Connecticut Attorney General said the erotic services listings on Craigslist "enabled" a crime like the one Markoff is accused of.
Wait...... the erotic services listings "enabled" the Craigslist killer to commit a crime? So without Craigslist this fucking toolbag would have repressed his batshit violent tendencies and not assaulted a fellow college kid or a Boston prostitute??
Good thing for the world police. Now there will never be another crime against a masseuse or escort. While you're at it, let's just ban all handguns - I mean if we do that, that means that violent people would not be able to get a gun, right?
I'm going to step off my soapbox now. I have never looked at the "erotic services" category on Craigslist but I don't have a problem with other people checking it out. I am only blogging about this because it's one in a long line of politicians pointing blame away from the fact that some people can just be crazy. Chris Rock has a great piece about this on Bigger and Blacker when talking about the Columbine shooters- people are blaming the music, and TV shows, and not the fact that some people are just plain crazy.
Anyway if you're interested here's the article: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/05/05/national/main4991572.shtml
