Disney World here I come! :o)

Well the wifey made an executive decision today, and booked us and the munchkin on a Disney World trip for the end of June! (Or is it Disney Land? Well, whichever one is in Florida).

We were planning a road trip across western Canada, hitting up a bunch of places. However, we recently got a break on turning in our current car (wifey thought we'd owe a bunch on repairs, but they waived those repairs due to us getting another vehicle there). So, not having to spend the money on that, and taking into account the money we would have spent on the Western Canada road trip, she figured this was a good time to hit up Disney. Before the munckin is no longer a munchkin!

So, anybody have any suggestions on things I CANNOT MISS in Disney World/Orlando?

Universal Studios Islands of Adventure is my favorite park over there. How big is the munchkin? Which parks you visit might be influenced by that.

I went when I was about 10-11 yrs old. However, my favorite part of the place was the Haunted Mansion. Do yourself a favor and don't miss it!

I can't wait to take my kids (5 & 2). I want to wait a bit though, I want to be able to take them on the rides and stuff. I have only been there once when I was very small (maybe 6 or 7) so I know it is alot different...sorry can't make any suggestions.

Well, you're coming to my stomping grounds. My advice to you is to be aware of your surroundings. The crime rate here is getting to be painful on the tourist industry. With that aside, are you driving or flying? If you're driving, it's gonna be about 30 hours of travel time. If you're going to be here during the end of June, the Haunted Mansion will likely still be closed for refurbishment. It's not scheduled to open again until late this year (October). Here on a weekend? Into Star Wars? Go to Disney MGM Studios on a Fri/Sat/Sun and get to the park early. The "munchkin" will have a chance to go to the Jedi Academy several times daily and will have a chance to fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul. Plan to spend a full day at each park at Disney World. If you're staying on Disney property, park your rental car and use the Disney transportation. You won't even need to leave property unless you want to go to another theme park like Universal or Sea World. Depending on the age of your child, Universal/Islands is a lot of fun. Older children can do everything. Younger children won't be able to ride as many rides. There are plenty of height restrictions on the rides there. The heights are on the ride descriptions on the home page. One thing you MUST DO, is go to Guest Relations when you first enter the parks on Disney property. Get your "1st Time" badges. If you want to dine at a fine restaurant on Disney property, get your reservations in now. Go online and look at the list of places to eat. Chef Mickey's is a great place to go to with your children. A family of three will run you about $75.00 total for the meal. You'll be there for roughly an hour or so at least and you'll see many characters. The memories are great. You will want to wear clothing that is comfortable when wet and dries fast. You will get wet. :-) Bring your camera and autograph books. If you see a guy running around the park with a "Networkers 2005" backpack, say hi to him, he's typing this for you. Don't forget your sun block and comfortable shoes. PS: My wife is from Winnipeg, she doesn't miss the snow.

Don't miss Snow White. She'll take you behind the curtain for a lap dance. : )
