Shared on Sun, 07/21/2013 - 08:21So I decided to do a custom job on the grill of my new 5150 III head. I painted the grille ivory to match the tolex So now the front has the striped look. I'm also planning on adding black knobs to the the gain, volume, & presence controls in order to break up that solid white face as well. What do you think?...

I'll put it this way. Before, I was running 2 original block letter Peavey 5150 combos in stereo. This one sounds better by itself than both of the old ones running stereo. the clean channel covers everything from sparkly fender tones to mor british vox style sounds. Crunch channel is like the sweetest Marshall plexi you will ever hear. the lead channel is pure metal madness. It's easily the best sounding amp I have ever heard/played (& I've heard a bunch of them).

How about painting the knobs red? Kind of like keeping to your blog icon motif? But yeah I think they need to be another color to break up all the white.

I think I'm going to stick with justa few black knobs to break up the face a bit. since the only other red on the amp is the power light & the channel 3 light. I just think red knobs might stick out too much. Basically, I wanna keep it two-toned.
