Well, it's official. Valve has announced the "Big Picture". This allows Steam games to be played on your living room TV. Details are vague at this point. Is it a console? Is it a way to stream your game to your living room? What ever it is, Valve just may change the gaming world as we know it.

It refers to it as Big Picture "mode" so I don't know if it's just a setting within the console, and they expect the user to plug in a HDMI to their own computer? If I had to guess, I'd say it's like Apple TV's Airplay Mirroring function - you plug a tiny device into your TV and it displays your Mac computer on the TV via Wi-Fi.

Thanks for the link, I'll certainly be following this.

It's just a new user interface to steam to make it easier to user / read / interact with on your living room couch on your living room TV.   You still need to build a gaming PC and hook it up to your TV.

Valve can make Steam easier/better displaying on tv's but that isn't gonna change that most pc titles suck using a controller and using a kyb/ms on a couch sucks even more.
