Bought a PS3

Well, I've finally gone and done it. I bought a PS3 yesterday. I have been on the fence about it for a while now, but my Uncle Sam gave me a bit of unexpected money last week (seems like there was a per diem in Djibouti I didn't know about).

I thought about it for a week and finally decided having a BluRay player isn't a bad thing :). Honestly I don't think I will be gaming on it that much since it will be in my living room hooked up to the main TV, but there are a few PS3 only games I've been wanting to play. First game on my list is GT5 (for reasons that should be pretty obvious to anyone who's looked at my blog). I'm headed to gamestop after work to trade in the copy of Killzone 3 that came free with my PS3 for GT5.

I know the game has problems, lots of them...but the developers have shown some signs that they will continue to improve the game so I am willing to give them a chance, and with so many of our 2old4forza members already playing the game I'm sure to have some great guys to play with online. I've taken the day off from work tomorrow to get some good quality time with GT5. I'm going to move the Playseat out in front of the 53 inch screen, turn the sound up loud and have a nice mini vacation. My son will be there too, but he loves cars so he should be ok with it.

One of the things that has me excited is that the last update to GT5 brings in multiscreen support (just like on the 360 setup I have, it requires a separate console and copy of the game for each screen). I'm not going to jump right into this, but it is great to know the option is there. If the game continues to get the promised updates and improvements, I may go ahead and buy 2 more PS3s and get it going on my setup. This is still a big maybe though, another $700 is a tough pill to swallow when I already have an arguably superior game running in 3 screens.

I've also ordered a copy of Uncharted 1, and will probably get part 2 once I've played through it. God of War is on my short list too, but it will probably be months before I get around to that.

EDIT:  I just read through the mulitscreen thread on GTPlanet, and unfortunately you can only play multiscreen in Arcade mode.  This is a deal breaker for me, if I can't race through the career and against others online using three screens I won't even consider dropping the cash on two more PS3s.  If they add in this capability in the future I may reconsider, but for now this is off the table.
