I didn’t game much this weekend. Real life gets like that sometimes, and so I wanted a game to pick up and set down quickly. I played RoboBlitz.

Now some people don’t like it, but it seems that I do. Part of it may be that I wanted to like it to encourage new content (retro is good, but I like variety) on the Arcade. But I also am a fan of games that use the environment to create puzzles. Roboblitz is a nice looking poor man’s Tomb Raider. I shoot, move stuff around, and have to go through all sorts of crap to do simple tasks. I like the game type, so I liked this game. Some have said it’s too easy, to that I say, do it the first time without hints, and don’t use the paid upgrades. (You need to try that anyway to get all the achievements.)

There are some downsides, no multiplayer and no dialog. If you can’t read like some of my 2old4tactics clan mates, you are in for a rough ride. Obviously the lack of dialog kept it small enough to be an arcade title. Another cut to keep it small was the multiplayer. There isn’t any right now. Later, they have promiss a free download that will let you do a 4 vs. 4 match of some sort. Not much details on that, and until I see it, it means nothing to me.

When it does get a multiplayer, I think it will be fun to use the tractor beam, or the hover gun against your foes. Will it get any real use? I bet not as much as something like Small Arms, but it still could be good for a few laughs.

Anybody else out there buy Roboblitz? Let me know, and when it gets MP we can play a game.

I've been loving this game. I've been playing it while my 3 year old son watches and we've been having a great time. I can't believe people have been dissing this game.

I can see not liking the game type, but the game is good for what it tried to be.
