Just wondering if anybody out there is a ham radio operator?  I am thinking about trying it out but have a lot of questions.  Thanks.

No, but a neighbor down the street has an awesome antenna. This thing is serious hard core. I also know someone from work that is into. I can have them contact you if interested.

I don't have a license, so I can't offer advise. Just going to wish you good luck on the test, I have heard it won't be quick nor easy.

I have a license. I'm also a storm spotter and member of ARES and RACES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service). Getting a technician license is pretty simple. Use the online practice tests to prep. Make sure you have a decent 2 meter or 440 repeater in your area and an active ham club.
