Doctors and Fishing.

Thursday night, my oldest who just went to the doctor for the blood in his urine starts to sound horse.  Wake up Friday morning and he can't talk and is running a small fever.  Back to the doctor.  We have to drive about 35 minutes to get to the doctor because we don't trust the doctors in our small town but that is another story.  They run a strep test.  While they are waiting for results, the doctor explains that strep can cause blood in the urine.  Turns out he doesn't have strep so we are still going to a specialist on the 17th.  A guy that my wife teaches with has a boy a little older than mine with the same thing happening.  He is going to the same doctor a couple of days before we go.  On a brighter note, we went fishing last night.  Friends of ours have a 4 or 5 acre pond so we loaded up the kids and headed out.  I use to love to fish.  There was a time in my life that I did a lot of fishing.  Since having kids I haven't done much.  I kept thinking that when they got a little bigger, we would go all the time.  I don't know now.  I guess 5 and 3 years old isn't quite big enough.  All I did was bait hooks last night.  Every time they threw it out, the fish would strip them clean.  They caught 6 or 7 but they fed the rest real well.  They had fun and that is what is important.  I just need to go fishing without them so I can do some fishing myself.  Does that make me a bad dad?

Nope, it doesn't. It makes you a questionable Dad if you don't take time for yourself. Everyone has to recharge so they can be the best they can be at what they need to do. Kids don't need a surly father b/c he hasn't taken some relaxation time for himself. All I know of you from reading your blog, you deserve the rest, so go to it AnglerMan. I could use a nice relaxing fishing trip myself....
