Son wanted to build something today. He is a builder. I had built a cbg about a year ago and never finished it. We finished it today. Had to add some sound holes and we decided to make it electric. Finished it and built another. I took pics of the new build. Just waiting on neck to dry. We will add strings tomorrow and it will be good to go.

awesome! I've waited a long time for these pics! lol :) glad to see you are still at it!  I just built a dulcitar for my sister (dulcimer tuned 3 string guitar - no wrong notes!) and I am currently working on a gourd banjo and I actually splurged and bought some proper exotic wood for the neck of this one (purple heart!).  Love it!  They look great!

Here's the dulcitar. It's a cookie tin body, oak neck, poplar fretboard, cherry nut and bridge). The gourd banjo isn't much to look at yet (cut the top off the gourd and glued neck pieces together - now I have to shape the neck).

What did you use for the frets, toothpicks? Looks awesome. I really need to try fretting one. Need to find some measurements to use.

yeah this was my first fret job - it actually went ok!  I used actual fretwire I purchased from www.cbgitty.com  I was worried about toothpicks (or almost any other thing that gets used in these builds) wearing down and/or being uneven heights and creating buzz and dead spots so I splurged and went with the real deal!
