All About The Blues

Ever since I was a young boy, I loved the blues. I'm not sure how I first came to love the blues or who first entyced me. I suspect it was Ray Charles, but that's just speculation. Most people either love the blues or it's just alright. I happen to love it. Here are some songs and artists that signify the evolution of blues music. I love them all.

Bessie Smith - You Gotta give Me Some, 1929 (definately NSFW, this song is nasty, lol)

Muddy Waters & Sonny Boy Williamson II - Got my Mojo Workin'

John Lee Hooker - I'm Bad Like Jessie James

Jimi Hendrix - Hear My Train a Comin' (a 12 string original)

Ray Charles & Stevie Wonder - Livin' For The City

BB King, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins - The Thrill Is Gone (sorry I don't have a date but it will be late 70's early 80's)

Glenn Kaiser - Crossroads (Glenn is a Christian blues player by trade, yes there is such a thing, and is a great musician. He's been doing thi ssince the 70's)

Robert Cray - You Think This World Belongs

Dwight Yoakum and Buckwheat Zydeco - Hey Good Lookin'

Susan Tedeschi - Wait For Me (Austin City Limits; I wonder if she's looking for groupies?)

Norah Jones - Bessie Smith (originally by The Band)

Blues Music came from African American slave spirituals and all American music utilizes aspects of it, be it Jazz, Country, Rock or Pop. I know there are lots I missed (Buddy Guy for instance). I could only play so many and some artists didn't have the tracks I wanted. I sure hope you enjoyed listening.

You and I must have been seperated at birth. The blues are my life. If you don't have it already you need to get Ray Sings Basie Swings. I can't take it out of my CD player. Cuda
