Shared on Wed, 02/21/2007 - 19:08I was pouring over Youtube looking for some music that I like and wanted to share, when I happened upon gospel, Actually I went straight to Mahalia Jackson. I'm not sure why. I was thinking of Ozzy, maybe Earth Wind and Fire, but Mahalia is where I went. Perhaps it's all the trouble in the world or maybe it's because it's my youngest daughters 13th birthday today (a sure sign of the apocolypse). Whatever the case, I guess I had the need for Mahalia's one and only voice. She was touted as the best gospel singer ever, back in the 1950's. In 2007 nothing has changed that. Sorry Shirley and Yolonda, you can fight over 2nd and 3rd. A little known fact about Mahalia Jackson is that she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 under the category Early Influence. Now here is the awesome, Mahalia Jackson:

What a great woman and great voice. She just gives me chills. There will never be an equal. Now, if you'll excuse me, I suddenly feel the need to pray. It's been awhile.
