I love the word LIBERTY. When I think of liberty I think of the ability to reach for my goals and dreams without interference from the government. However, it seems we have allowed the government to get too much control. We believed the Democrats when they said to trust them. We believed the Republicans when they said they had the answer. They pit us against one another by pointing the finger at each other and crying foul. The sides each of us choose to align ourselves with more than likely will depend on trivial things instead of serious analyzation. Those of you who are Blue or Red, ask yourselves, "what is my party's platform, do I even know? Have I even read it? Am I (insert color here) because I like Clinton's style" or because "Reagan was pretty cool." What I'm saying is that the majority of people out there choose their party for gratuitous reasons. Before you argue the point with me, have you been to your party's website and read the platform? If you haven't compared the platforms of the different parties then you're only making your decisions based on the spin that each party's talking heads puts out. Don't fool yourself, they both do it and they're both good at it.
We use terms like freedom and liberty and throw them around like they still mean something when the reality is that our freedoms and liberties are being eroded and taken away. Some of the reasons for doing so sound real good too, like "national security." Heck, we all want to be safe so when that term is thrown around we tend to just ignore that our prison walls are closing in on us. I'm a fan of the television show 24. My wife says I have a man-crush on Jack Bauer. Whatever, lol... okay maybe a little. Anyway, they are making some good points this season as some people in the government are doing their best to take away our liberties and freedoms, to restrict us even more and give the government even more control. How much power over us do we want the government to really have? What excuse is acceptable to give away our freedoms? Once their gone it's gone for good. Remember, the income tax was just supposed to be "temporary".
That's TV, but here is some real life examples. I will preposition what I'm going to say by making it very clear that I am not ragging on Hillary Clinton just because it's fun. To me she is just one of many problems in the government that are on both sides of the isle. Believe me, I see the Democrats and Republicans as twins. That being said, She is going to be the first person I will feature in a new segment of the Liberty Files called:
Idiots In office
Todays idiots are very intelligent people I'm sure. I don't want to imply that they are not. They know just what they are doing and are hoping we'll buy what they're selling. Sen. Hillary Clinton stated recently in a speech made to the DNC, "The Democrats know what needs to be done. Again, we're working trying to try push this agenda forward. The other day the oil companies reported the highest profits in the history of the world. I want to take those profits and I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to fund alternative, smart energy; alternatives and technology that will begin to actually move us toward the direction of independence." Look, I'm no economic genius but even I know that profitable companies are companies that stay in business and keep us employed. These profits belong to the shareholders of these companies. True, there are some fat cats holding large shares and are getting wealthy by these profits but they are not the only shareholders. Among regular people like us who invest and count on those profits, are also many retirement funds. Teachers, police, fireman, maybe even your company's retirement plan have a vested interest in these profits. It's not the governments place to steal them away from us and that's what Hillary is proposing. She calls herself a Democrat but her political beliefs are socialist. Her statements make that self evident.
The other Idiot in office I want to shine a light on this week is state Rep. Wayne Smith, R-Baytown ,Texas. Yes, a Republican. Like I said, both parties are really the same. The same idiots, just wearing different colors. Rep Smith has proposed a bill that would make missing a scheduled conference with a public schoolteacher a Class C misdemeanor. Smith has said he hopes the measure would increase parents' involvement in their children's education. The bill would allow for "reasonable excuses" for not attending, and proceeds from fines would go toward providing additional compensation to teachers or buying school supplies other than textbooks. My God is this man insane? I don't make it to parent/teacher night or a PTA meeting and what? I'm guilty of a class C misdemeanor? What an asshole.
Well there you have it and it proves my point. We need to run far and fast from these two parties and try to bring some balance and sense back to our government.
