Shared on Thu, 01/25/2007 - 13:29I'm going to try to blog about politics every week or whenever I get the urge. Frankly, politics can be real boring, not to mention frustrating. I don't like people to be divided. I know we can't be unified on everything but we don't have to be as divided as much as we are. Some will be red, some will be blue, but most of us are really shades of purple (and grey if you really don't have a clue). We have to learn to look past the rhetoric that we hear. Both side spin the information. Both sides tell half truths. We need to understand this and stop acting like we are red or blue and act like we are all just Americans. In most cases, we are together on 90% but we let the 10% come between us too much.
That's one of the reasons I dropped out of the big "2" and went to another party. That and I saw that our current political state was leading us down the wrong roads and getting us into dire trouble. more on my political affiliation later. Lets look at our foreign policy. It really sucks. It sucked under Clinton too, if we even had one. I know people hate us. Whether through envy, jealousy, they hate our policies or because they see us as a threat, many hat us. Not all but a lot of it really and truly is our own fault. We have put aside the policies of love thy neighbor and charity to all. Iraq is a perfect example. It doesn't matter if we had all of the right reasons for going into iraq, WMD's or not, we should not have gone there. How do I know? Hindsight is 20/20 and any idiot can see we are in over our heads in Iraq. We can argue that we were using bad intelligence and could know that there were no WMD's but that doesn't cut it. Many have died because we acted on piss poor intelligence. The entire world said we shouldn't do it. Our own Secretary of State (Colin Powell) said it was a big mistake. Yet we let old George do it. Then we rewarded him by re-electing him. At the time he seemed better than Kerry, I agree that Kerry is just another jackass who wouldn't lead us worth a damn, but he still should not have been re-elected.
We were attacked by Al-Qaeda and going into Afghanistan was the right thing to do. But now were in serious trouble there and we have too many of our resources locked up in Iraq. I wonder if things will ever get better in Iraq but think not. We should not be reestablishing a new democratic Iraq, but chasing Al-Qaeda. I really don't care much for Sen. Joe Biden but he is the only one that has come up with an exit strategy that makes any sense. We need to break up the country into states, like we did to Germany, each faction having control in there area. The elect their own people to represent them and have a lot of autonomy in their own areas. Whatever the case, it seems that staying is bad and pulling out is worse.
about 6 years ago I changed my pary affiliation to Libertarian and havn't regreted it a single moment. I'll say that I don't agree with the Libertarian view 100% of the time, but it's probably in the 90 percentile. Libertarian view on foriegn policy: The principle of non-intervention should guide relationships between governments. The United States government should return to the historic libertarian tradition of avoiding entangling alliances, abstaining totally from foreign quarrels and imperialist adventures, and recognizing the right to unrestricted trade, travel, and immigration.
In other words, don't start nuttin, won't be nuttin. I'll be talking about Libertarian policies more in the furture. For now, here's a little quiz for you. Who knows, you might be a Libertarian too and just don't know it yet.
