A workout WILL happen today. I will kill anyone who interferes in it today. I feel good, fine and full of the wine at the moment. And nothin is gonna break that.

IN OTHER NEWS:
I think Julia started smoking again. And she's not telling me. I called her last night and her little sis picked up. I ask "can I talk to Jules?".
Sis: "No"
Me: "Why not?"
Sis: "She's outside"
Me: "Oh...whats she doin?"
Sis: "Shes......outside"
Me: "Ah I see. Well tell her to call me when she gets in."

I may just be paranoid. But the ONLY reason she'd be out in the heat is for a nic fit. Which saddens me greatly.

ON THE GAME FRONT:
Downloaded the Dead Rising demo last night. And here's my review.

After 2 hours of waiting for it to finish downloading (this is on DSL Extreme mind you), I was ravenous to play this game. Keep in mind I'm a HUGE horror movie buff...especially zombie movies. Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie flick. So a game with the zombie apocalypse is just my cup of tea.

Once it started I was treated to the realtime rendering of the mall sitting in the distance with the undead lumbering about in various fashions. I eagerly tapped the Start button to begin my campaign against the undead.

As the demo kicked off I was treated to a view I loved very much. A shopping mall chock full of my future victims. I heard all of 5 seconds of the mall music and said to myself "this simply won't do." So I put on some Devildriver and that got the juices flowing.

As I unleashed the sledge hammer into the first zombie...I could almost feel tears of joy swelling up. I'm listening to Swinging the Dead in the middle of the zombie apocalypse while hitting the undead hordes with a damn sledgehammer!

I filled the cup......twice.

As my soundtrack blazed through Devildriver, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Heaven Shall Burn and Dragonforce, many undead fell. Before the demo cut off I was at 325. I killed more than I did much else for my first go through.

Batter up bitch!

So onto my actual rating of the game. Everything based on a scale of 1-5. 1=poo 5=orgasmically good.

Graphics:
Xbox360 purty. The characters look really well done, the zombie types are numerous enough to not get bored. No flash and glitz, which isn't needed here really. And the blood splatters....oh the blood. Its good. Very good. And there are SO many enemies onscreen at one time. Just one photo caught 136 zombies. Thats beyond crazy.
Score: 4.3

Sound:
The mall music will drive ya nuts. Make sure to have a custom soundtrack ready. Ontop of the mall music is the overlay of hundreds of zombies moaning for fresh flesh. Which gets creepy after a while. Because its hard to tell how many are behind you at any given time. In 5.1 surround sound it made me feel like I was in the shopping mall surrounded by the undead. The voice acting was a little odd I thought. But nowhere near as cheesy as the Resident Evil titles of old.
Score: 3.5

Control:
Controls were slick. My only quarrel is the aiming. Its a little too slow. Hopefully thats adjustable in the full version. Left stick controls the character, right controls camera as it should. Picking up stuff and remembering how to throw it took a little to remember. But once it stuck I was throwing everything I could. A very solid control scheme, with very tight controls.
Score: 4.2

Plot/Content:
Zombies....lots of zombies. And lots of ways to kill said zombies. What else do you need? Its the ultimate zombie apocalypse game! The 1 thing that could have made it better would have been 2-8 player co-op. That would have made me fill the cup 2 more times. No story of course is really presented in the demo. But oh well.
Score: 4

IS IT WORTH IT:
There are not many games I would ever pay or admit to paying $59.99 for. But I would have to say just the little bit I played of Dead Rising made it easier for me to drop the cash. Which I will be doing right after work today. For those who are looking for a training game for the zombie apocalypse...this is your bag. If you're looking for the next Resident Evil....go somewhere else. Capcom has made another classic title in the zombie survival genre. While its not a perfect game, with 1 or 2 improvements and features (like co-op), it could be very close to perfect.
So Yes...in my opinion it is worth the cost of admission.

So this is what Michael Jackson feels like.

Thats my review and I'm sticking to it.

Gatsu OUT!
