Man do I really not want to be here right now. Its 8:50, I've only been here for like 20 minutes and the boss is about to drive me nuts.

People coming in wanting proofs that aren't done yet, giving no indication that they were coming in at all to look. Its aggravating. I'm definitely gonna need some aspirin when I get home.

On the part-time boo-rah stuff...the boss still hasn't talked to me about it really yet. So I think Im just gonna keep coming in fulltime until Im told to stop...and then talk to him about it.

Not sure though.

But anyway. Onto other things. Julia and I had a great weekend. She's had her shit straight for the past couple of days and has been doing well. Her bloodsugar has been steady and somewhat stable, shes stopped smoking and has been smoke-free for about a week now. We just pretty much laid around and watched movies. Which was fun. Just needing to unwind from the week and whatnot. It was good to have a somewhat care-free weekend with the lady.

Didn't hang out with Akira or Panda at all...which was ok. Didn't really feel like it, although they went out and did all this stuff and I wasn't invited. Ah well. I was having more fun cuddling my woman anyways.

This weekend for some reason though the topic of "what is goth" came up between me and akira over the phone. He considers himself goth, dresses dark, likes dark stuff...all that. But I asked...is that all that makes you goth?

Then I did some research. Voltaire (the musician, not the poet) said that goth was "a movement of music that spawned from punk in the 70's. Punk was about seeing the world full of bad people, and being angry about it. And goth was the meloncholy brother of punk. You see the world full of bad people and it makes you sad. It is a love for things dark and romantic and meloncholy."

Not once did he mention a style of dress. Although Voltaire did write a book though covering the different gothic clothing styles. Which was a good read actually. Pretty funny. It was called "What is Goth?" The book takes a humorous look at the subject.

But I started thinking how all this applied to me. Although I don't really consider myself goth (or anything else for that matter), I do share most of the major characteristics of both goth and its angry brother punk...but more metal that punk.

I see the world full of bad people, and it makes me both sad and angry. And it makes me want to destroy it (metal style).

Although I don't consider myself a romantic I do like dark-lit rooms with candles, and darker orchestral music while I relax from work. I enjoy things dark and disturbing and things of the macabre. But not in a perverted sense. A graveyard is peaceful to me and I feel at peace in dark places. My room has one dim light that I only use for reading or drawing.

The types of music I like are generally darker than most, although I do like alot of different styles. Techno, industrial and metal are my favorites. I'm not in black 24/7 I do prefer the color black for my wardrobe. I don't wear hot topic clothes, nor do I like them. That store is for goth emo posers and teen wannabe's. I prefer my clothes either home-made or ordered from a catalog. I don't wear "gothic" clothing at all. If anything I look like a normal guy. I don't like wearing eye-liner or any makeup at all to make me look more "goth". Just a pair of fangs occasionally. I just wear black clothes, preferably with no logos or emblems on them unless they are dark or of something game-oriented I enjoy.

So when I walk into a goth-club, I'm the one getting stares from everyone. But I just smile and think to myself "Remember, its the normal ones you should watch out for." And after talking with a few people in the club, I found I was actually darker than most of them. There clothes were more or less just costumes slapped overtop of GAP or Abercrombie preps.

So another lesson in life learned, goth ultimately is not a style of clothing, or type of music you listen to. It's the joy of things meloncholy and dark that make the difference. Race and religion make no difference either.

Anyway. That it for this post.
