Open your mouth, unhinge your jaw and rest your teeth on this concrete block.  Taste the liquid sucking slab, taste the sandy exterior and the gray dust.  Smell that rebar, the iron, the steel.  See the sparks from the arc welder, rain down around you.  Feel the gravel digging into you patella, feel the pain grow as the sharp jagged edges bite through your skin, like the teeth of some prehistoric beast.  The dust, the stone, the earth it all hungers for your flesh.  It cares nothing for you, nothing for your soul; it mindlessly waits for you…for anyone who dares tread into its path.

Your heartbeat quickens, you start to drool, your sweat beads on the back of your head.  You try and cry out but all is heard is a faint hallowed groan.  You can’t mouth any words with this brick pressed so severely into the corners of your mouth.  At any moment you could get up, stand up from your subjugated position, there is no physical force that pushes you down, there is no psychic otherworldly being dominating you with its will.  It is your mind that forces you to bend, to kneel submissively in this posture.

All around you men work, they do not see you.  They work as if you don’t exist.  Is it that they choose not to see you out of pure disgust by your actions or that by your own subversive behaviors their reality can’t begin to comprehend your actions and you are thus invisible to their world?  You press your head harder into the concrete cutting your skin, the pain is tremendous as your flesh rips and blood boils out running down your chin.  Why are you doing this I ask? Have you no decency, no self-respect?  Or is this indulgence of taking your own body for granted, an action most people cannot afford to take?  Will you stop only when your body can no longer function or is one taste of frailty all it will take?

What inspires your feast of pain?  What kind of megalomaniac are you?  Are you such a king that your life is so valuable that you treat yourself this way?  You start to grind your teeth against the concrete, breaking one tooth and decimating a crown.  You stick out your tongue and press your lower jaw against it severing it as pain blinds you darkness falls across your eyes.  Your battered face lays open to the world as you stare blankly at the sky.  What have you survived?  This is just another hideous attempt at self-discovery.  I walk over, smile and pour my warm beer on your face.  This is my example of disgust for your actions are cliché and bore me.
