Anyone here into day trading online? The reason I ask is that a friend of mine trades in futures online and has been doing quite well at it. He pays a lot of money for all the software and data feeds but the ammount he makes far surpases the costs. He has quite the set up. He bought an external Matrox box for his laptop which uses to run 3 monitors off of. He also has an older PC desktop that runs two more monitors off of. I've been taking lessons from him every morning for a few days now before I go to work to try and learn the tricks of the trade. One reason I decided to learn is that I know absolutely nothing about investing or the stock market. I want to learn how to make my money grow for now and far into the future. So far it's been very interesting, maybe in a few months I'll be brave enough to try it with real money instead of using the software in simulation mode.

I know people that have done it (I believe Sgreth's father does that). I know lots of people that didn't have the success story. And a few that are in big debt because of it. If you're a gambler, probably not a real good thing to do. If you're sensible and know when to enough is enough, you'll probably do better. The only stock trading I've done involved my last company IPO and some fun stuff during the day at work. Never made more then a few hundred bucks though. CodeMonkey

I used to work for an off shore futures trading fund management firm. You're betting on the future. I'm not sure if that's more or less risk than betting on what's going on now. Either way the stock market is a freak'in risky business to get into. At least with futures, there's lots of strategies and formulas you can work out if you're a mathmatician.
