Shared on Fri, 11/26/2010 - 12:54The rest of my birthday was phenomenal! Matt came over after work and took me to dinner where I had the BEST lamb shanks of all time and a gorgeous walnut pomegranate puree (Fesejan it's called) with rice. So so so so good. After dinner he brought out more presents (was feeling like he had spent WAY too much on me, so I told him to go easy on Christmas). He got me a (very nice) DARTBOARD! We throw darts a lot and he even got me 2 very nice sets darts (weighted at 24 and 26) and flights that say Dart Bitch :) I love it!!! He also got me a wipeoff board to keep score on. We spent the next hour playing Cricket (he won, of course) and then my best friend came over and we had more cake. :) What a great birthday!
So Thanksgiving morning I woke up ready to get things rolling. I made the sweet potato casserole (OMG I even impressed myself, it was so perfect), played Portal with Matt for a couple hours, played some darts, did laundry, and made myself look as beautiful as possible for when I met his family. I changed shirts 3 times, and bras 4 times I think. Matt kept saying he could see them through my white sweater (even the tan one he said he could see, but I think he just wanted me to strip for him again, LOL). Anwyay, I finally settled into something nice (and not too showy) then we were off.
His family is SO NICE! They were very welcoming and asked me plenty of intelligent questions. Clearly Matt has been telling them a lot about me. His dad is a character! I am going to enjoy getting to know them. After dinner his dad asks if I like vodka or scotch. I said I love vodka, and I haven't really drunk much scotch. He brought out a 15 yr old Glenlivet and poured me up a tumbler. It was so good! I'm glad Matt drove, because I was pretty tipsy an hour later. I giggled a lot. LOL Anyway, we were just deciding that it was time to get going when his mom said oh you can't leave yet. They gathered everyone in the kitchen and brought out a cake for me, sang happy birthday, and gave me a gift card to Charming Charlie (love that shop). :) What a sweet family! I just couldn't believe it. It was a really nice night.
His parents did voice some concerns about us going to Colorado, thinking he would freeze to death. I promised he wouldn't die or lose a toe or anything. It'll be fine. One of his cousins was there with his baby daughter- she's 9 months- and then Matt's dad elbows Matt and says how'd ya like to have one of those?? That was an uncomfortable moment, mostly because Matt knows I can't have kids, and didn't want to out me to everyone right then, so he just said "we'll see". He's an only child, so he's their only chance to have grandkids. I don't want to be the reason everyone is disappointed, so I think we'll have to have a strong discussion later. I don't want him getting too attached if later on down the road this will be an issue. Maybe this is an after Christmas talk.
Anyway, It was a lovely holiday, the food was freaking awesome, and I even got leftovers to take home. :) Hope ya'll had a nice Thanksgiving too! Now it's time for some Super Meat Boy.
