Had that child support hearing today.  My two youngest daughters went with me, we had to be there at 9 am and didnt get called until 245pm.  He didnt show, had his lawyer there.  She is wonderful, completely cooperative with us.  Anyway, we get this award, a fair amount, more than I had origiannly asked for.  However, the confusing part is that arrears were awarded only back to the date of me filing for the support. Not a cent for the past ten months.  My daughter was so angry she was crying.  I specifically said to the judge. " So am I to understand he is not responsible financially for his children for the past ten months?"  He replied, "No I am not saying that at all" and nothing was changed in the order.  He mumbled something about being limited to how for back they can go, but that just seem to sit right to me somehow.  Anyway, now we wait to see if he pays:)

The whole CS thing can be so damn confusing Em. Take my situation for example: My ex-wife is currently $9,000 in arrears. Ive recieve $225.00 a month for two kids. My oldest recently graduated high school and has now gone off into the army. Of that $225.00 the state says $100.00 of that is for arrears. Next month, with only having to pay for one 15 yr old child, the amount I will recieve per month is said to be $158.00 per month and of that $50 will be counted as arrears being paid. Them numbers dont much add up. The kicker is my ex thinks once my youngest turns 18, shes done with all payments...not true seeing as how he is special needs and will be attending school till he is 21....thats gonna piss her off.

Good luck. My daughter had a lot of trouble getting child support from her ex and the State of Illinois finally had to garnish his wages. Hope you do better!

Em, It doesnt have to be that tough! My X and I were able to work out our details out of court, we worked together and it cost us about $200 to file everything. Guys dont need to make it that tough, its for the most part a chart of incomes and #s of children, etc.etc. I am actually able to pay extra to try to have them keep the house to help secure the equity in the home we are going to split when sold. As you probably know the courts are for couples that cant resolve their issues, who wants a third party too decide whats best for you and your beautiful children( BTW your pretty cute yourself). Tell the JA to wake up! Best wishes for you and your Fam. OMR. P.S. I bet your a better Halo player than you give credit, when Im down on playing I look @ gamers levels and compare, that usually makes me feel better. Actually I havent seen a bad female Halo player yet, most ov em own me! LOL
