Work update

Ok... missed your post regarding this last week. Went back and read it. Interesting situation to say the least. #1 - Like MJ says. Document everything. Document your discussion with the HR person, and document converstaions you had with J that you can recall. Go as far as writing down who initiated the conversation. #2 - The Boss and HR person didn't tell you who told them those stories. You were able to deduce that from your conversation with the HR person. #3 - Here's a biggy. By failing to confront you about your supposed "escapades, dirty mouth, etc..." and never hearing your side of the story... By not nipping said "gossip" in the bud and putting an end to it... And, by you finding out in the way that you did as to what the HR's person's feelings towards you were... I think you could successfully argue that they created a "Hostile" work environment. Especially when it is the HR person who you find this out from, and who failed to discuss these "accusations" with you and failed to put a stop to the gossiping that was spreading around the office in regards to you. I'm not a lawyer, but when some issues happened between my wife and her former place of employment occurred, I did a lot of research into Worker's rights, etc... If you get turned down for the promotion or raise, I would confront the boss for the honest reason why you were denied. If anything is said regarding Friday's incident, then you have basis for a lawsuit due to the failings of the management. Just my opinion.
