Shared on Mon, 11/13/2006 - 11:22I think I have figured something out. On my way to work I spend an average of 30-45 minutes driving on the freeway. This is where I do my best thinking...and swearing and fist-shaking-at-other-cars. This is what I came up with today. I have found the root cause of depression. (For the majority)
Here it goes:
This theory is based on 2 factors...physical age and mental age. It is also based on the relationship of the two.
Age Newborn - 5 - You dont know shit. Mentally and physically you are developing and learning. The 2 ages (Physical and mental) are matched up nicely and create no problem.
Age 6-10 - More advanced developement physically and mentally. This is where we start to see the personality develop in most people. The physical age and mental age start to noticably differ. This might be mistaken as ADD or some other behavioral disorder. Children with a closer merger of their two "ages" are more stable and focused. Children that have a larger gap in their two "ages" are more unfocused and conflicted.
Age 10-12 - This age doesnt count because this is when puberty starts to grab a hold. People are all jacked up no matter what.
Age 13-16 - This is where the big "split" comes into play. If you are mentally mature that matches your age, you fit the "normal" bill for a teenager. You hate everyone and know everything...or so you think. If you have a mentality that is juvenile to your physical age, then you start playing organized sports...like football or basketball and shirking things that take imagination. If you have an accelerated mentality that surpasses your physical age...you go out and start watching Buck Rogers episodes, learning the schematics of a lightsaber, and begin collecting Magic the Gathering cards.
I will continue with "Theory Part Zwei" tomorrow.
Because I know that people do not read long blogs.
