Well the year 2007 is coming to an end. I wonder what I did all year long. I played alot of 360 thats for sure. The one event that stands out most is the loss of my love of halo. The game that started it all for me again. I grew up with Atari and nintendo games. I quit playing for quite some time after my early twenties. Then one year my wife's nephews got me to play a game on thier new system xbox 180. The little game was called Halo. I remember it was split screen and the map was blood gulch. I couldn't figure out how to move my soldier or shoot my weapon in the right direction. The boys were having a field day killing their uncle and laughing their little timmy heads off. During the whole exprience I would flash back to my days of mario bros. I would show them a thing or two about gaming, but the truth was there was no comparison between the two games. A few weeks had passed and it still was on my mind that silly game Halo. So for my 33rd birthday I asked my wife for an xbox 180 and halo. I vowed revenge and give those boys a real ass whooping at thier own game. I played Halo for a year straight and played legendary repeatedly. The day came at a X-mas function I got the chance to play Halo with my sweet little nephews. I pretended I could play any better than the last time. Then on about the fourth game I unleased my fury. They were shocked with my play. I tore them apart both at the same time. I was the one laughing now. Well I was hooked for sure. I awaited for the release of halo 2. I was at the midnight release for the game. I once again played Halo 2 non-stop unitl the cheating started. I stuck with it as long as I could. I think it was about Feb of this year I stopped playing Halo 2. I just could get past the feeling of no matter how good I could play it didnt matter due to cheating. It wasn't a fair game. Even with the release of Halo 3 I had lost my feelings for Halo. Getting a xbox 360 didn't help either. Now i can play other games as well. The Call of Duty games especially Cod2 had me in it's grasp. Now with Cod4 and a occasional Halo 3 game is all I play. I hope this year 2008 will bring that one special game to get me again. We will just wait and see.

I'm pissed about that, too. I wound up playing some COD4 campaign, though. But considering that XBL is an awesome service that's available 99.99% of the time, the occasional outage is to be expected.

I guess biorod is right, but then again to have these issues right after Christmas is not acceptable. They should be more prepared I would think. In any case, Major Nelson has a blog post about this at his web page. The direct link (copy/paste) is http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/12/29/xbox-live-status-12-29.aspx

Seems like it got better late tonight...we were actually able to play some online matches for a few hours with no problems, on kod4 anyway.
