Possible Date?

So I have had a profile up on Plenty of Fish for about a year now.  I haven't had much luck.  A few emails here and there.  One lady I almost met but out schedules never could mesh.  She lives in Athens so there would be a lot of driving involved.  I was never one for the whole long distance thing.  Anyway there was another lady named Karen who sent me a few emails a while back and then kind of disappeared.  She started emailing me again this weekend.  She said she had moved back home for a bit (out of state) but just recently came back in town.  She asked me what I was doing for the super bowl.  I guess that is a normal question for people to ask each other.  It did kind of throw me off because I don't really do football.  Heck, I don't even know when the Super Bowl is.  February I think.

So I have to say that I am a bit nervous about meeting her in person for several reasons.  First off since I really don't date I really am unsure what to do.  I'm afraid I'll talk too much or say the wrong thing or something and come off looking like a crazy person.  Second, I've never been on a date with a woman before.  This both thrills and scares me.  It's something I've always wanted to do but I don't know how.  Is dating a woman like dating a man?  Actually now that I think about it I really hope it isn't.  Sorry guys...LOL  I still love you guys though.  The last thing I am worried about is diving in head first and loosing my mind.  I know in the past with men if I actually started dating one I would just loose my mind.  I would make them my entire focus and just loose who I was.  I realize now that I was trying too hard to make something happen that wasn't meant to be.  I've been denying who I really am for years.  I just hope that with women I can finally learn to be myself.

Anyway, so far no definite plans with Karen.  I am actually hoping to try and see her before Super Bowl because I hate meeting new people for the first time when it's going to be crowded and loud.  I like a first meeting to be a bit more relaxed so you can take your time and get to really know a person.

Wish me luck.

Good Luck.............and I don't take the men comment personally!!!! Just be yourself. Let your conversation flow naturally. You'll be fine. I do agree you should see her before a party just so your not meeting blindly among a bunch of people you don't know. That would make me uncomfortable. Once again - Good Luck!!!!!

The Columbus to Athens drive is pretty easy. It's just one road. Definately a sleep over trip though. Anyway, this is soppose to be fun. Relax

Well seeinz how; 1. I've dated a few women in my day 2. I've always been a lesbian trapped in a mans body. I suggest you just be yourself. The "date nice" will just kill things latter and who wants to have to watch themselves or put on an act all the time. Remember she is meeting you and you her, if it clicks great if not then try again.

don't worry about making an ass out of yourself. i found someone to accept me for the jackass i am, and you'll do the same...LOL. i'm willing to bet she is just as nervous as you. it's better to just put yourself out there than to hide behind a mask. you seem like a fun and sencere(sp?) person. GOOD LUCK!

Columbus to Athens isn't that bad of a drive if you don't have anything else to do. Between my 50 hours a week of work, being super mom, driving my daughter all over town for concerts and the like and what ever else I have to do I'm not really in a position to be driving to Athens all the time. I know exactly how far away it is. I used to go to OU. It's like an hour and a half drive from my place. That's just too much to fit into my already over crowded life. But that one is over anyway so no use dwelling on it. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated since you all seem so interested.
