The underappreciation of 'B' movies

Last night the monthly dinner party was at our house and we chose to do BBQ&B.  Barbeque and B movies.  Dastard grilled some brat patties, brats and hamburgers and the others brought side dishes.  We had a full house and it was a blast.  We watched the 1958 version of "The Blob."  It was hilarious especially if you listen to the opening music and lyrics.  Poor McQueen, his dialog sounded as if George Lucas wrote it.  Everyone was making comments during the show and just added to the hilarity.

After dinner we broke open a bottle of sparkling wine ( fake champagne) and raised a toast to welcome Dastard's oldest son to our household.  It was nice.  He has had a really rough week.  (See Dastards blog)  Oldest son is arranging his room and unpacking some of his things.  I think today he is meeting a friend and getting acquainted with some others from the local high school.  He has an advantage in that he was able to maintain some friendships even though he didn't live here and I'm thankful for that.  It will help him assimilate into the high school easier and feel more comfortable.

With all that has happened in the past week (my sad conference, the oldest moving in a day, etc) I am now getting back into the routine of work and playing catch up.  I just got a new assignment that will start in a few weeks and will take at least two to three weeks to complete.  Oh, Happy Day.  That figures, my grad work is going to get going and now work gets going at the same time.  When it rains it pours!  But, there is never a dull moment.  And if all goes the way we hope, we will be welcoming the youngest boy back on a permanent basis.  I'm hoping this will be resolved with minimal court time and hassle for the boys.

What a household.  We will be down to the last centimeter for space, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

Would you rather
Drive 50 miles with a car full of digital alarm clocks beeping
Or
Drive the same distance with 4 styrofoam coolers, which constantly rub against each other creating that annoying squeaking sound?

Keep on Go!

Wow, B movies. Every week my brother in law exposes me to some cheesy movie. I will be happy to give suggestions should you need them. For example, Invasion USA.

I was thinking more in the lines of movies prior to 1970 with a monster aspect, you know, GODZILLA

if it was the sound of my alarm clock I grew up with... a slow mid level tone that grows in volume and beats nails on chalkboard hands down... then gimme the coolers. I still hear that sound about once a year out in the wild... in a mall, at a ball game, someplace. It sets my nerves on end every time! and wakes me up.
