Third show

I completed my third horse show this past weekend and it went very well.  I'm still jumping at the 18 inch mark in the beginner classes, but I can tell I'm improving.  I placed first, fourth and ninth in my jumping classes, out of twenty entries and got a second and third in the other two classes.  All that means is I took the high points for that division and got a pretty ribbon to hang on my wall.  Now, I'm sure that sounds snotty, but it really is a pretty ribbon and I'm happy with it!  It means Dastard is going to have to put up another string for my ribbons!

It was a long weekend and we sent the youngest step son back to his mother.  He has told her again that he wants to move in with us and I think there was a small seismigraphic movment down in the SW part of the country when she got that information.  Poor kid got the third degree from her and her husband and was basically told that moving wasn't an option.  She's going to find out that her bullying isn't as effective as it once was with this kid.  He's growing some cajones.

We had fun while he was here.  He had expressed an interest in riding with me so I set up some lessons for him at the barn I ride at.  He looked funny, all 6'5" on a horse that was at least a foot and a half shorter than he was.  The kid is allllllll leg.  But, he picked up his instructions well and seemed to have a lot of fun.  His last lesson he even went over a pole that was off the ground six inches and his horse kind of jumped it.  He even went over it a second time before he was completely tuckered out!  I was so proud of him.  I had the opinion that he was kind of leery about trying new things, but he really isn't.

Work is moving along and I'm definitely keeping busy.  This summer has been full of travel and I'm really a home body.  I'm also trying to finish up my graduate program.  It isn't easy writing introductions and keeping ideas going when the day is devoted to writing something entirely different.  The statistics will be finished by the end of July and by then it will be too late to defend for the summer semester.  So, I will have to have one more semester credit hour to complete everthing and graduate in December.

This has been my life for the past few months and looks to continue for another couple of months.

Life is never boring around this house.  Dastard has started proceedings to get the youngest moved up here and it is going to be a fight.  I'm confident that everything will work out for the best in the end and karma, bitch that it is, will play a big part in all of this.  I firmly believe that what comes around goes around and you get what you give.

Would you Rather

Spend your entire life in a room with no windows

Or

In a glass room where everyone could watch your every move?

Keep on Go!

Glass of course. It would be considered solitary confinement w/o windows. ;)
